Do you ever wake up wanting a nice refreshing breakfast? A few weeks ago I woke up on a hot summer morning and wanted something cold but sweet. I created the best fruit smoothie that you can either drink or eat with a spoon! It almost tastes like ice cream.
What is so great about this recipe is that you can substitute almost any fruit into it. I normally make mine with berries because I like the taste and they have a higher fiber content than most fruits, but I encourage you to use whatever is in season at your local farmstand. And if you choose to make this in the winter, it’s a great way to use some frozen fruit you have stored in your freezer!
Ingredients:
1. 1 cup frozen berries (you can use any other frozen fruit, and if you don’t have frozen, you can use fresh fruit, but just add ice).
2. ¼ frozen banana (again, sub any fruit, but I love banana for creaminess)
3. ¼ cup almond milk (sub any plant-based milk)
4. 1 tbsp nut butter (this can be powdered nut butter or the real thing)
5. Optional: 1 scoop protein powder (any brand is great)
Directions:
1. Blend on high speed until you get a thick and creamy smoothie! Add a dash more almond milk if the blender is getting stuck.
